This collection is a gathering up of my originals, going back to nearly the very beginning of my songwriting, more or less in the mid ’70’s.

Roundup

These songs and the original singers made significant impacts on me over the years, so this collection is a sort of double tribute, both to the singers and to the writers.

Dancin’ With Them That Brung Me

Somewhat like the lines “something old, something new”, Snapshot is a collection of songs that I grew up loving, and songs that I wrote over a period of years, collectively a minor look at what brought me to this point and a sample of my own compositions. There are lots of other artists who’ve influenced me, so this little set is just a tease in a sense.

Snapshot

My initial motive for making this series of Gospel Favorites is to get my mother, Mary Bess Harkins, singing songs she loves and often sings in church, on tape both for my own satisfaction and pleasure, but also to share her gift with others in the family who have never heard her sing. As a secondary goal, I wanted to capture others of her generation while their voices are collectively still strong and beautiful.
